85.2% Nigerians Lack Effective Social Protection Coverage – ILO

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has said a staggering 85.2 per cent of Nigerians are without effective social protection coverage, leaving the vast majority of the population exposed to poverty, economic shocks and other vulnerabilities.
The agency said only 14.8 per cent of Nigerians are effectively covered by social protection, describing the development as a major gap that must be confronted with reliable data, stronger institutions and targeted policy interventions.
