A/ Ibom govt, WHO unveil long acting  injectable drug  for  prevention of HIV

Akwa Ibom state government in partnership with World Health Organization (WHO) have  joined global movement to end HIV through the launch of  a long acting injectable vaccine  known as Lenacapvir (LEN -PrEP) to fight spread of HIV in the state.
Speaking in Uyo Akwa Ibom state capital during the public presentation of the injection, the state Deputy Governor  Dr Akon Eyakenyi said the injection remains a major milestone in the fight against HIV/ AIDS in the state .
Eyakenyi noted  that HIV has been a major challenge to public health globally and Africa in particular adding that Nigeria records 1.9m patients infected by the virus .
