Afenifere to S’West Monarchs: Activate traditional defence against bandits

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has called on traditional rulers in the Southwest to activate traditional security and defence systems to protect their communities from bandit attacks.
In a statement issued in Akure, Ondo State, and signed by its Chairman, Chief Korede Duyile, and Secretary, Dr Bakkita Bello, the group urged monarchs to take immediate steps to strengthen community-based security structures.
The group said traditional institutions must play a more active role in safeguarding their domains.
