Akande says Buhari wanted Osinbajo as President, counters Babachir Lawal

A former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, has said the late President Muhammadu Buhari offered to support Osinbajo’s 2022 presidential ambition on at least four occasions.
Akande’s statement contradicts claims by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, that Buhari would have considered it immoral and distasteful for Osinbajo to challenge President Bola Tinubu, who had recommended him for the vice-presidential position.
According to Akande, Buhari encouraged Osinbajo’s presidential ambition and publicly commended the way he campaigned for the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket.
