The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has declared that artificial intelligence (AI) will not be allowed to determine the outcome of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, warning that deepfakes, fabricated audio and coordinated disinformation pose a growing threat to electoral credibility.
