Amupitan admits INEC faces trust deficit, voter apathy

• Says misinformation, disinformation also major threats

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has admitted that beyond logistical and technical challenges, rebuilding public trust, tackling voter apathy and combating misinformation and disinformation remain some of the commission’s biggest battles ahead of the 2027 general election.
Amupitan stated this on Monday at the North-West Zonal Interactive Meeting with staff and readiness assessment for the 2027 general election.
