Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI are named in a new suit that alleges the companies entered into an illegal agreement to slow their individual AI development.
Filed on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the lawsuit says the tech giants violated antitrust laws when they agreed to coordinate abating efforts.
The litigation argues that decelerating the pace of artificial intelligence advancement would reduce the value consumers get for AI subscriptions.
According to the plaintiffs, who pay for ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Gemini, antitrust laws “do not permit competitors to decide among themselves that competition is too dangerous.”
