Arsenal were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup on their return to the Emirates Stadium, despite winning the subsequent penalty shoot-out.
The Gunners, appearing at home for the first time since being crowned Premier League champions, were unable to mark the occasion with victory as Dortmund produced an impressive performance to claim the pre-season trophy.
Dortmund took the lead through Samuele Inacio , who produced a neat finish to put the visitors ahead.
Konstantinos Karetsas then doubled Dortmund’s advantage with an excellent curling effort as the German side established control of the contest.
