Bille gas explosion: Victim dies, CAPPA warns of more deaths

Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) has expressed concern over the death of Joy Amos, a 29-year-old resident of Bille, Rivers State, who sustained severe burns in a gas explosion inside her room on September 3, 2026.
Amos died on Tuesday, September 22, following her transfer from Bille to Port Harcourt for further medical treatment.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, CAPPA described her death as a grave consequence of what it called the continuing environmental and public health emergency in Bille Kingdom, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
