Buratai’s security warnings vindicated by recent events — Ex-Army Director

A former Director of Army Affairs at the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Hassan Abdullahi, has said recent security developments across the country have vindicated the long-held position of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), that Nigeria’s insecurity cannot be resolved through military action alone.
In an analysis titled “Reinforcement of Lt. Gen. T.Y. Buratai’s Frank and Patriotic Advice on Nigeria’s Escalating Security Crisis,” Abdullahi argued that events between 2025 and 2026 have confirmed Buratai’s view that the country’s security challenges are rooted in governance failures, political interests and weak institutions.
