Canada makes history despite 2-1 loss to Switzerland

Canada will now move on to the Round of 32 for the first time in men’s program history, as they get ready to leave home for a match in Los Angeles.
It’s a bittersweet moment for Team Canada, as they fell 2-1 to Switzerland in their final group stage match at the 2026 World Cup. Despite the loss, the men’s team will advance to the Round of 32 for the first time in their history.
By losing the game, it means that Canada will make the journey to Los Angeles on June 28. A win or a draw versus the Swiss would have had Canada playing at home once again in Vancouver.
