Christa Pike, the Tennessee death row inmate who survived a botched execution last week, is battling pneumonia and is currently unable to move her arms, according to her attorneys.
Pike, 50, was left critically ill after Tennessee officials administered two doses of the lethal-injection drug pentobarbital during an attempted execution on September 30.
She was taken to hospital unconscious and placed on a ventilator, where she remained for several days.
Her legal team said Pike unexpectedly regained consciousness and began speaking on Tuesday, October 6, after they had been told she was believed to be brain-dead and that life support would be withdrawn.
