The federal government has intensified its push for private capital and innovative financing to tackle Nigeria’s growing climate adaptation needs, declaring that public funding alone cannot provide the infrastructure, technology and resilience systems required to shield the economy and vulnerable communities from the escalating impacts of climate change.
The government said climate adaptation must now be viewed not only as an environmental responsibility but also as a critical economic and investment opportunity, urging businesses, financial institutions, development partners and other stakeholders to develop bankable projects capable of attracting large-scale investments.
