Online streamer Carter Efe has revealed that public backlash and controversy almost drove him into depression, recalling how the reaction to his hit track ‘Machala’ affected his mental health and early career journey.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, he said the criticism that followed the song led to intense online dragging, where he was labelled a rapper and thief, and insulted over his appearance.
“People always say I’m controversial, but controversy almost pushed me into depression. After I dropped ‘Machala,’ people dragged but I have grown over it. I am not going back there,” he said.
