Death toll in Taraba bandits’ attack now 50

The death toll from an attack by gunmen in Taraba State has risen to at least 50, survivors and Amnesty International told AFP Sunday, after more bodies were discovered.

Both police and Amnesty said some of the victims had drowned while trying to flee the attackers.
Gunmen on motorcycles from a suspected “bandit” gang swarmed Binnari, in eastern Taraba, killing dozens of people shortly after Friday prayers. They also looted and burned stores.
