The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 30, 2028, with Eddie Murphy returning to voice the fast-talking donkey he has portrayed since the original Shrek debuted in 2001.
The upcoming movie will explore Donkey’s backstory, chronicling his adventures before meeting Shrek in the magical land of Far, Far Away.
The announcement comes as anticipation continues to build for Shrek 5 , which is scheduled for release next summer. The sequel reunites original cast members Mike Myers , Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy, while introducing Zendaya to the franchise.
