Education Ministry orders FUTO VC to cancel 24 appointments

A leaked directive from the Federal Ministry of Education has revealed a major intervention by the Federal Government in the affairs of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), with the institution’s Vice-Chancellor ordered to immediately withdraw the appointment of 24 aides in his office over alleged breaches of due process.
The confidential correspondence, dated June 25, 2026, and obtained by our correspondent, shows that the ministry faulted the appointments and directed the Vice-Chancellor to reverse them forthwith and provide evidence of compliance without delay.
