The Enugu government said it has strengthened surveillance at international points of entry and risk communication efforts to prevent the importation of Ebola into the country.
The commissioner for health, George Ugwu, made the disclosure, yesterday, after the Enugu State Public Health Emergency Operation Centre committee meeting on Ebola Prevention in the state.
The move followed the outbreak of the disease in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ugwu further disclosed that the meeting, held with the state’s health stakeholders and partners, was also attended by top officials of the Port Health Quarantine Service at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
