Europe-bound newlywed arrested with 72 wraps of cocaine in stomach at Enugu airport

A 25-year-old newlywed businessman, Lovely Chukwulobelu, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly attempting to traffic cocaine to Portugal.

Chukwulobelu, in a statement signed by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy on Sunday, was intercepted at the departure hall of Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, on Thursday, September 25, 2026, while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Portugal via Addis Ababa.

According to the NDLEA, the suspect had ingested 72 wraps of cocaine and was placed under excretion observation after his arrest.
