Human rights lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called for an impartial and independent investigation into the police shooting incident at the Ogbo-Ogwu Headbridge Market in Onitsha, Anambra State, that left two traders injured and sparked a protest .
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ejiofor, a former lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), condemned what he described as the use of lethal force against unarmed civilians.
He alleged that police personnel routinely harass traders at the popular pharmaceutical market, making arrests and demanding gratification.
