Foundation for Environmental Rights Advocacy and Development (FENRAD) Nigeria has raised the alarm over the recent crude oil pipeline explosion in Owaza community, Ukwa West local government area of Abia State.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital by its executive director, Nelson Nwafor, FENRAD demanded an immediate investigation into the explosion which led to huge losses.
It said the explosion, which destroyed farmlands, houses, and livestock had exposed the grave environmental, public health, and safety risks posed by the country’s aging oil and gas infrastructure.
