Ghana’s government has launched a legal challenge against Canada’s refusal to grant midfielder Thomas Partey a visa, with the case set to be heard in an Ottawa court on Tuesday afternoon.
The 33-year-old is already ruled out of Ghana’s World Cup opener against Panama in Toronto on Wednesday after Canadian authorities denied him entry over his ongoing criminal proceedings in the United Kingdom.
Partey, who pleaded not guilty to seven charges of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to allegations by four different women between 2020 and 2022, is due to stand trial next year.
