Heads Must Roll At The NFF

Nigerians spent Thursday last week absorbing a defeat that has no precedent in the history of the country’s football. The Super Falcons, 10-time African champions, lost 2-1 to South Africa in a World Cup play-off and, with it, missed qualification for the Women’s World Cup for the first time since the tournament began in 1991. That result did not arrive out of nowhere. The Falcons had already failed to reach the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in the competition’s history, their worst outing at that tournament on record, before the play-off route to the World Cup closed behind them as well.
