Ibadan court sentences woman to one-year imprisonment for forging marriage certificate

A Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan on Friday sentenced one Bolanle Adeyemo, 50, to one year in the correctional centre for possessing and forging a marriage certificate in Court. Delivering judgment, the President of the court, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, held that she convicted and sentenced Bolanle based on her guilty plea and the prosecution's evidence. Akintayo also said that the court exercised its discretion in sentencing Bolanle, having pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against her.  She therefore sentenced Bolanle to one year in the correctional centre for each of counts two and three respectively, or an option of one month of community service for the offences of unlawful poss...
