INEC Probes Alleged AI Photos, Duplicate Voter Records In Register

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced an investigation into allegations of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated photographs and questionable voter records in its preliminary register, following public outrage and growing demands for transparency ahead of the 2027 general election.
The commission said it was examining the circumstances surrounding the suspicious photographs, including possible technical or procedural lapses, assuring Nigerians that verified irregularities would be addressed before the final Register of Voters is certified.
