The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA, has warned consumers about expired and near-expired products allegedly being sold with altered production and expiry dates in markets and retail outlets across the state.
The agency raised the alarm over the alleged manipulation of product dates, saying devices and chemicals used to erase and reprint production and expiry dates are reportedly being circulated online.
LASCOPA said the development could make it easier for unsafe products to be returned to the market and sold to unsuspecting consumers.
