Lionel Messi scored twice to become the all-time leading goalscorer in the Leagues Cup as Inter Miami opened their 2026 campaign with a 4-2 victory over Atletico San Luis on Wednesday.
The Argentine superstar reached a record 14 goals in the competition, surpassing every other player in the tournament’s history.
Messi, who inspired Inter Miami to their maiden Leagues Cup title shortly after joining the club in 2023, once again played a decisive role as the Major League Soccer side began this year’s tournament on a winning note.
