Morocco has appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as its first woman prime minister, marking a historic development in the country’s political leadership.
King Mohammed VI named El Mansouri to head the government on Tuesday, September 29, and tasked her with forming a new administration, according to the Royal Palace.
The 50-year-old politician is the coordinator of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), which emerged as the largest party in Morocco’s September 23 parliamentary election. PAM won 97 of the 395 seats in the House of Representatives.
