NERC seeks regulatory authority for AKSERC

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued an order to Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company Plc (PHEDC) to transfer regulatory oversight to the Akwa Ibom State Regulatory Commission (AKSERC).
By February 2027, when it is expected that Akwa Ibom State will fully transition, the total number of approvals for electricity oversight will be 17.
Consequent upon the powers of the Electricity Act (EA) 2023 (Amended), the commission issued the order to transfer regulatory oversight to AKSERC.
