Newborn stolen in Benue hours after birth

Tension and grief have gripped residents of Gboko Local Government, Benue State, following the alleged theft of a newborn baby boy from a hospital in the area, barely few hours after his birth.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at a Family Healthcare Centre in Gboko, shortly after the baby was delivered.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the newborn initially failed to cry immediately after delivery, prompting the nurse on duty to intervene.
The baby was said to have eventually responded normally, after which he and his mother were moved to a ward for further care.
