Eva Marie Saint, the Oscar-winning actress who starred in the Hollywood classics On the Waterfront and North by Northwest and later played Superman’s adoptive mother, Martha Kent, has died at 102.
Saint died peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday at her Los Angeles home, surrounded by family and loved ones, according to family representative Jeff Sanderson.
Born in New Jersey in 1924 into a Quaker family, Saint began her career as a radio and television performer. Her early struggle to establish herself in the entertainment industry was documented in a 1949 Life magazine feature.
