The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that its decision to freeze the Osun State Government’s account was triggered by the alleged suspicious movement of public funds running into billions of naira, amid an ongoing investigation into the handling of about N11 billion in Ecology Funds, Intervention Funds and Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations.
The Commission said it had been investigating the Osun State Government since March 2026 over the alleged fraudulent handling of the funds, stressing that the freezing of the account was not politically motivated or connected to the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
