Police foil AK-47 procurement deal, arrest buyer in Kwara

A planned acquisition of an AK-47 rifle has been disrupted in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State and the buyer, Sanda Aliyu, has been arrested .
The development follows what police called actionable intelligence that exposed an alleged illicit arms transaction before its completion.
Command spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

The police image-maker said that on 3rd August, 2026, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Section received intelligence indicating that Sanda Aliyu was allegedly negotiating with one Aliyu Mohammed, currently at large, for the procurement of an AK-47 rifle.
