The Jigawa State Police Command has announced the commencement of a statewide enforcement operation, codenamed “Operation Velvet”, to tackle persistent violations of traffic laws across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawal Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
He said the operation, scheduled to begin on Monday, August 24, 2026, would be carried out simultaneously across the 27 local government areas of Jigawa State in collaboration with relevant security and traffic management agencies.
