Retired general, software engineer unveil app to tackle terrorism, kidnapping

A retired military general and a software engineer have unveiled iLert247, a real-time emergency response application designed to help address terrorism, banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria.
The platform was developed in the United Kingdom by a software engineer, Joseph Ekeh. It is meant to bridge gaps in community-level intelligence and emergency dispatch, and to shorten response times when people are in danger.
Ekeh said the system has three linked components. These are the iLert247 mobile application for users, the iSmart display dashboard for command centres, and the iLert SOS network, which routes real-time data directly to security agencies.
