Rivers Civil Servants Give Retired Perm Secs 7-Day Quit Notice, Threaten Protest

A section of civil servants in Rivers State has issued a seven-day ultimatum to retired permanent secretaries still occupying public offices, warning that they will embark on a protest if the affected officials fail to vacate their positions within the stipulated period.
The workers alleged that some permanent secretaries who retired from the state civil service in 2024 have continued to remain in office despite the expiration of the one-year contract appointments granted to them by the state government.
