Soludo’s wife advocates care, respect for senior citizens

Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called for stronger measures to protect elderly people from abuse, neglect, discrimination, and exploitation in society.
Mrs Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, made the call, yesterday, in a message to mark the 2026 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Marked every June 15, the event seeks to promote the protection of the rights, dignity, and well-being of older persons worldwide.
The 2026 theme, “Beyond Awareness: Making Elder Abuse Prevention Work,” highlights the need for concrete actions to address growing challenges of elder abuse in aging societies.
