Somalian referee Omar Artan has secured one of European football’s most prestigious appointments just days after being denied entry into the United States and subsequently dropped from the list of officials for the 2026 FIFA World Cup .
UEFA announced on Thursday that Artan will take charge of the 2026 UEFA Super Cup clash between Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and Europa League champions Aston Villa. The match is scheduled for August 12 in Salzburg, Austria.
