South East politicians and Peter Obi’s candidacy

An   off-the-cuff banter with a colleague from the South-South geo-political zone provided the push for this article. We were analysing the political developments in the country when he asked: “What are you guys in the South East doing about the obsession by politicians in the zone against Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential aspiration?” I tried to parry the question but he was insistent. Not wanting to be drawn into a long debate on the matter, I told him that I was not interested in it. But that was not the truth. I lied, for which as I know he reads this piece, I offer profound apologies.
