The death toll from the latest migrant crisis on Spain’s border with Morocco has climbed to 67 after tens of thousands of people crossed into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa.
The chaotic mass crossing reportedly left several people dead, with some drowning while others were killed in a stampede as crowds surged across the border.
In response, Spanish authorities announced plans to install a 500-metre containment barrier along the maritime border separating Ceuta from neighbouring Morocco. The move follows the arrival of an estimated 60,000 migrants who breached the frontier earlier this week.
