The Taraba State Government has announced the immediate suspension of all mining activities across the state following security concerns that could threaten the prevailing peace and stability in the region.
The directive was announced on Friday in a statement signed on behalf of the governor by the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Barrister Gebon Timothy Katars.
The government said the decision was based on credible security reports indicating the existence of threats capable of undermining the peace currently being enjoyed by residents of the state.
