The Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Correction, Frank Strada, has resigned following the botched execution of convicted murderer Christa Pike, who survived two injections of the lethal drug pentobarbital.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced Strada’s resignation on Saturday, saying the commissioner would leave his position later this month. The governor has also ordered an independent review of the failed execution.
