Timaya credits Fela Kuti for Nigeria’s global music influence

Singer Timaya has credited late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, with playing a significant role in the growth and popularity of Nigerian music.
Speaking on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast, Timaya said Fela had inspired him and many other Nigerian artistes.
He also highlighted Fela’s influence beyond Nigeria, claiming that the late musician is highly revered in Cameroon.
Timaya emphasised that because of Fela’s immense contributions to Nigerian music, he could never disrespect him nor his family.
