President Bola Tinubu has approved salary increases of between 30 and 80 per cent for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, in what the Presidency described as a major boost to troop welfare and the country’s security efforts.
The new salary structure, which takes effect from September 1, 2026, will benefit about 250,000 military personnel across all ranks, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
