President Bola Tinubu has transmitted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bill 2026 and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) Amendment Bill 2026 to the Senate for consideration.
The two bills were forwarded in separate letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during Tuesday’s plenary in Abuja, pursuant to Section 58(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
In his letter on the NDLEA Bill, Tinubu said the proposed legislation seeks to repeal the existing National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act and the Indian Hemp Act to establish a consolidated legal framework for combating drug-related offences.
