U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles arrive Abuja, await CAF decision

Nigeria’s U-20 Flying Eagles returned home, awaiting CAF’s decision on their 2027 Africa U-20 Cup qualification after finishing as runners-up in the WAFU B Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
They arrived at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on Tuesday. Nigeria lost 1-4 to Burkina Faso in the final, ending their hopes for a third WAFU B title and regional qualification.
Ghana’s hosting of the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup, giving them automatic qualification, has complicated the qualification process.
With Ghana already qualified, one WAFU B slot is effectively filled, leaving Nigeria hopeful for an extra slot from CAF to join Burkina Faso.
