UNGA: Tinubu’s cancellation of attendance sparks fresh debates

The announcement that President Bola Tinubu would no longer attend the ongoing United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York, as earlier announced, has sparked fresh debate among Nigerians.
Recall that Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, had earlier in July, through a statement, said Tinubu would attend this year’s UNGA.
He even said that a seat had been secured for Tinubu not too far from where United States President Donald Trump would be seated.
However, a statement yesterday by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesman for Vice President Kashim Shettima, announced that Tinubu had directed Shettima to lead the Nigerian delegation to the event.
