United Nigeria Airlines honors Chinua Achebe with sculpture at Ogidi home

In the quiet town of Ogidi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, a bronze sculpture now stands watch over the Ugwunwasike Roundabout. It depicts Professor Chinua Achebe, a novelist and essayist, widely regarded as the father of modern African literature.
The sculpture, unveiled in July by the Ogidi community, was entirely funded by United Nigeria Airlines. It is the latest chapter in a sustained campaign by the airline to keep Achebe’s memory alive in the land that produced him.
