WAFCON: Zambia coach fumes as controversial CAF rule sees Super Falcons, Malawi qualify

Head coach of Zambia’s women national team, Nora Häuptle, has hit out at the tie-break rule enforced by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The rule saw the Copper Queens exit the competition, despite a 2-1 win over Malawi on Wednesday.
Häuptle’s ladies finished on six points, same as the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Malawi.
But CAF’s tie-break rules based on goals scored in matches involving the three tied teams saw them eliminated.
Under the regulations, Nigeria and Malawi progressed after scoring four and three goals respectively in the head-to-head matches, while Zambia scored two.
