The former Chief Financial Officer, CFO, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Umar Ajiya, says the company and its workers are not thieves.
Ajiya made this remark during a session by the Senate Public Accounts Committee investigating alleged misappropriation of funds.
His remark followed the allegation by a lawmaker representing the Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, who declared the NNPCL a house of thieves .
He alleged that N2.9 billion was used for the incorporation and rebranding of the company, and explicitly denied that N5.8 billion was spent on the registration process itself.
